Steven Moffat: lanto wont come back

DOCTOR Who boss Steven Moffat says he won't bring back Torchwood character Ianto Jones despite desperate pleas from fans.

Executive producer Steven told fans on Twitter to stop asking for the character, played by Gareth David-Lloyd, 29, to be resurrected on his show.

The BBC has received hundreds of complaints from viewers who are desperate to see the character return even though he was killed off in Torchwood's third series, The Children of Earth.


Steven also added that former Doctor Who boss, Russell T Davies, was still responsible for spin-off shows Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures, not him.

Writing on Twitter Steven said: "Ianto fans only: Russell's character, and I thought his death scene was brilliant. Not reversing it. Stop asking [sic]."

He added: "Torchwood is Russell's — nothing to do with me."

Ianto Stays Dead

Russell T Davies’ recent chat with SFX has seen him reveal a few things about Torchwood Series 4 – not least the amount of behind the scenes work that has gone into forging a co-production between BBC Wales, BBC Worldwide and Starz.

“Yes, he is, bless him. I saw an interview with Gareth David-Lloyd recently where he was saying, ‘That’s enough, thanks’. Leave him to get on with his career!”

Ianto’s Dead: Get Over It!

John Barrowman has told AfterElton that fans need to let go of former Torchwood’s ‘general support officers’ death and look forward to (Group) Captain Jack’s future sexual escapades.


“Get over it. I know that’s harsh but comes a point where you have to move on with the story. We had to do something that would create a massive drama and we didn’t discuss it because everyone was happy with it and that was just it. But who knows what will happen in the future – that’s John Barrowman speaking speculatively – nothing has been said.”
