Katy Manning will reprise the role of Jo in an upcoming two-part story titled 'Death of the Doctor'.Davies told Doctor Who Magazine: "There's no fleeting cameo stuff, it's all full-blooded, with lots to say about Jo's life since we last saw her. I'm glad it's a big, proper meeting."
He confirmed that he had always planned to feature Jo in a large role.
"I love that moment in The Avengers when Tara King and Emma Peel pass on the stars, but a couple of lines wouldn't be enough for Jo and Sarah Jane. I wanted more!"
Producer Brian Minchin added: "[Jo] doesn't just turn up and talk about the old days. She's there with her grandson Santiago and they're thrown into the middle of a proper adventure."
The Sarah Jane Adventures will return to BBC One in October.
